B. Pharmacy is one of the popular job oriented undergraduate degree Program among the science students after +2. It is a four year program to be completed in eight semesters (each semester is of 6 months).

This program is about the manufacture, quality control, research and development of drugs. The program is highly career oriented and opens up excellent opportunities in Pharma industry.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates belonging to all categories except Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes for admission to the B.Pharmacy course must have obtained individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology or Mathematics both in theory and practical with a minimum of 35% marks. Not less than 40% aggregate marks in the above subjects is mandatory at the qualifying examination (Academic Stream) after a period of 12 years of study i.e.10+2 pattern of education
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes not less than 35% aggregate marks
  • Candidates qualified in the Diploma in Pharmacy examination conducted by the Board of Examinations of the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other Board of any other state recognized as equivalent thereto by the authority of Medical University

Age Limit for Admission

A Candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the said age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the B.SC. Medical Laboratory Technology.

4 Years.

Selection Procedure

Selection and admissions are made on merit basis for all categories of seats in B.Pharm, through counselling, following the rule of reservation, choice of the candidates and availability of seats by the selection committee.

Career Prospects  :   After B.Pharm, students can pursue higher studies like M.Pharm degree for improving their skills and knowledge with monthly stipend after qualifying the GPAT examination. After Qualifying in GRE, TOEFL, IELTS entrance examinations they can pursue MS (Pharm), MBA and other pharmacy related courses in USA, UK, Canada and Australia etc.

B.Pharm graduate can directly join in Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate (PB) 3 years Program. B.Pharm candidate can take up the role of a medical scientific writer, Industry pharmacists, Formulation Development (F&D) Associate, Drug Inspector/Analysis, Marketing professional, whole sale and retail sale of drugs. They can also serve as lecturer in D. Pharm institution.

Scope of the Course  :  Pharmacy graduates students will study the subjects on the production of pharmaceuticals, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry and community pharmacy to serve as a health professional.
