Food Safety Department – Tamil Nadu
The Food Safety Department of Tamil Nadu is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of food across the state. It operates under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and is tasked with implementing the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and related regulations.
The department operates under the Commissionerate of Food Safety, headquartered in Chennai.
Designated Officers and Food Safety Officers regularly inspect manufacturing, storage, and sales facilities. Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Salem, Coimbatore, and Palayamkottai are home to six food laboratories established under the Act for testing samples.

Educational Qualification
Candidate should possess Bachelor of Engineering(or) Degree in Computer science (or) Information Technology (or) Electronics and Communication Engineering (or) Multi Media and Mass Communication.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for this food safety department job is 60 years. The applicant should not have exceeded 60 years of age of as on 24.10.2024.
Eligible Applicants
Applications are invited from eligible candidates all over Tamil Nadu but the preference will be given to resident of Chennai (As Head Office is located in Chennai).
Salary
There will be a Consolidate Pay of Rs.30,000 per month for the selected candidates.
Important Note about this Food Safety Department Job
- The contractual pay for System Analyst and cum Data Manager as fixed by the Food Safety Department.
- The contract agreement period is 11 months.
- The Original Certificates should be submitted to the department for verification while attending interview after scrutiny.
- MoU will be signed the employer with specific term & conditions.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on the Marks obtained in the Degree , Experience , Interview and Decision of the committee is final.
The selection will be made on the marks obtained in the qualification, Additional qualification and interview conducted by the committee
Purely Temporary Basis
This Job is purely temporary and the contract is for 11 months and only based on the need and performance appraisal and project validity and further continuance may be approved.
The post is purely temporary under the project and if the project period ends before the contractual agreement period , the person engaged may be terminated with 15 days prior Notice.
If any false information is found or any misconduct , the person will be terminated without prior Notice.
