How to read seats and cutoffs
Read the year, round, counselling authority, quota, community and seat pool together. A figure from one round or source cannot be applied to another without checking its own published records.
Three different seat numbers
- Approved annual intake
- The approved MBBS intake for a college and academic year. It is not the number of seats in a particular counselling round.
- Seat matrix
- The published seats for the stated authority, round, college, quota, category and seat pool. This site currently shows the Tamil Nadu 2026 Round 1 matrix.
- Allotted count
- The number of allotment records in the matching cutoff group. It does not measure approved annual intake or seats still vacant.
Read each label separately
Quota identifies the counselling allocation, such as government or management quota.
Category or community identifies the category recorded in that source. In government quota cutoff rows here, community is the candidate community published in the allotment list. It does not establish which vertical seat category was allotted. Management and NRI lists do not publish vertical community in these records.
Seat pool is another field. “General Seat Pool” does not mean “OC community”; keep the pool and community labels separate when comparing rows.
Opening and closing rank are the first and last ranks in the matching published allotment group. Opening and closing score are the corresponding NEET scores. They describe past allotments, not an eligibility threshold or a prediction of a future seat.

In this example, the closing rank of 6,218 and score of 501 belong to the displayed group. The 37 allotments describe that group, not its approved intake or a current vacancy count.
